May is National Bike Month, May 15th-23rd is Cleveland Bicycle Week, and the climax and culmination: Friday May 21st, National Bike to Work Day. No matter where you live and work, we encourage you to make bicycling a component of your commute.
More downtown employers than ever have signed-on to encourage their employees to ride to work this year! Find a friend or colleague to ride with you this Friday and help your workplace start a healthy trend. If you're new to this whole bike commuting thing, visit OhioBikeBuddies to find a more experienced rider to pair-up with, or read on for our ride groups going downtown.
We'd certainly applaud you for riding straight to work and straight home, but there are some Bike to Work Day events and promotions that we hope you won't miss:
Ride Groups and Morning Gathering
Hook up with others at our scheduled East/West meeting points and ride downtown together. We're gathering at the City Side Garden downtown (Ontario and Huron,) from 7am til 10am. Join us for free breakfast goodies, free Phoenix coffee, and some other freebies.
Evening Social
Join other Bike to Work Day participants on East 4th St. for food and drink discounts, live music, free bicycle parking, fun and games, and cameraderie at the Bike to Work Day Evening Social.
Shower at the Y
Want to shower and change downtown before going in to the office? The Downtown YMCA is offering complimentary showers on Bike to Work Day! Bring a lock for your temporary locker.
Ride Free on the RTA
Greater Cleveland RTA is supporting B2W Day with free rides on buses and rapid all day the 21st for those with bicycles! A great way to split up or supplement bicycle on a long commute. Learn more.
