Intro to Traffic Skills - FREE training for CBW event ride leaders!
To get ready for Cleveland Bicycle Week events (or if you plan to volunteer for one of them), you may want to get some training in safe cycling techniques. The Ohio City Bicycle Co-op offers a short seminar on cycling safely in traffic on the 2nd and 4th Saturday of every month. The class is $25 but you can attend for free with the purchase of a bike or membership from OCBC. Intro to Traffic Skills is also free for anyone who commits to leading a ride with any group's posted event during Clelveland Bicycle Week!
This class is based on the League of American Bicyclists' 9-hour, Traffic Skills 101 but without the on-road or written tests. This class doesn't award the Traffic Skills 101 certificate, but still covers the same important topics and it's a lot easier for people to fit into their schedules.
We also offer an online bike safety quiz to complement this class: we'd appreciate your feedback on the DRAFT quiz here.
Pre-registration for Intro to Traffic Skills is required by 5pm the Wednesday before class. Private classes can also be arranged at OCBC, or elsewhere. Please call, visit, or email education [at] OhioCityCycles [dot] org for more information.
